8 steps to buying a bed online
- Measure the room. Allow about 60 cm of walkway on each side and at the foot. Our room-fit calculator does the sums. See how to measure for a new bed.
- Measure the route in. Check the front door, hallways, stair turns and the bedroom door.
- Pick a size. Compare UK bed sizes, or take the which bed size quiz.
- Choose a bed type. Frame, divan or ottoman: see ottoman vs divan vs bed frame.
- Check the build. Material, load rating and warranty: see bed frame materials compared.
- Match a mattress. Size and maximum depth: see the mattress buying guide.
- Read delivery and assembly details. Is it flat-packed? Is delivery to the door or to the room?
- Read the returns policy. UK online orders have a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations; check who pays return postage.
